“The Love Month”
“This is my command that you love one another.” (John 15:12) The Church was created to be relational in peace and in conflict. No matter what the Body of Christ faces, it always begins, proceeds, and ends with the love of Jesus through it all. Calvary has taken this to heart as it sees itself with a mission of connecting people to the love of Jesus.
We do so in understanding the Lord’s mission. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. That whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) This is clear and to the point! There is no longer any mystery is understanding God’s purpose. Jesus came into the world to demonstrate His love for us.
No matter what kind of worldview spin humans try to communicate, we are lost and condemned creatures bent on hate. Use any media source and this fact becomes clear. We see it, hear it, live it, and endorse it in some way every day. “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to so these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1:32)
The remedy? “We love because He first loved us!” (I John 4:19) The cure for hate and sin is Jesus and His love and this remedy is needed more now than ever … not only in the love month or February.
Love in the scriptures is presented in three ways – erotic, friendship, and God’s kind. It is the unconditional, God-like love we all receive when it comes to our Lord Jesus. His love is sacrificial and complete given to us on the cross and resurrection. It is this love we need. The God kind.
Pray for each other. Care for each other. Love one another. This is how Jesus lives among us and show Himself to the world around us.
In His Love!
